More from the Artist:
Intervals is a series of mixed-media prints about time. These are monotypes printed on handmade paper and layered with oil and water-based materials.
This year is a milestone for me, observing and realizing the gift of time.
Time gauges all things. Intervals show time counted, marked, layered, spaced, and passing. The layering, and mark-making are inspired by how time moves and passes; how we measure and use time to define life and our place in the world.
The prints reference layers of sediment, and rings of trees, the height of mountains, and depth of rivers, the shape of leaves, and notes of bird song, ebb of tides, and phases of the moon.
Time holds the rhythm of daylight to darkness, and space between stars, migration flights, and each heartbeat; scheduling and celebrating, hurrying and waiting, laughter and dying.
Intervals of time measure minutes to hours, days to decades, across distance and space.
Time passing is life measured.
