Invasive Water Chestnut in Ceramics: Explorations of a Nemesis by Karen Jean Smith
Through sculpture, artist Karen Jean Smith addresses ecological issues of the non-native and invasive Eurasian water chestnut, which plagues the fresh water of the Northeast. She will also share work in sculpture, through slides, and information for identifying the plant. Cynthia Boettner, USFWS Biologist, and coordinator of the volunteer initiative to control water chestnut in the watershed, will relay the strides that have been achieved by volunteers and youth crews locally.
